Environmental Justice

Toxic Waste

People of color and the world’s poor are disproportionately affected by environmental pollution and disasters. From playgrounds, to farm fields, to global factories and villages, the poor pay a high price for the wealth of others. Since the 1980s, the Environmental Justice movement has grown to address the issues of disparate impacts and unequal protection. A rich academic field has grown to help explain the problems, causes, and solutions.
